Your guide to harbour dining and beach front cocktails

Updated: May 7

Weymouth Edition

Bespoke dining, original cocktails and sunset views, Weymouth is the ultimate destination for an indulgent break away from reality. After visiting restaurants situated on the harbour and spending evenings taste testing an array of cocktails, I can confirm you will not be short for options, with establishments catering for every need.

EBIKE CAFE

A cafe focused on your health and well being, EBIKE CAFE won travellers choice 2022 for their picturesque dining, menu choices and opportunities.

Partnering with 'specialized', eMTBS industry leader, EBIKE offers their visitors a free 25 minute bike experience around Weymouth, complimented with a free coffee or cake! The cafe has also received recognition for offering bike services and repairs and their own cycle scheme.

Though EBIKE offers services above and beyond the standard dining experience, they also pride themselves on their sustainable menu, serving their visitors locally sourced quality ingredients to support a healthy lifestyle. I personally opted for their fruity bacon pancakes and they did not disappoint!

The Nook

A swift turn around from one of Weymouths lifestyle options, The Nook cocktail club is situated a stones throw from the beach, providing the perfect spot for watching the world go by. Offering an alternative menu to your every day bar, The Nook offers all of your favourites...with a twist. Spicing up the beloved pornstar martini, their rockstar martini is regarded as its 'fruitier cousin', with white rum, peach schnapps, mango, passionfruit, sicilian lemon and of course, a 'dash' of Prosecco, The Nook will broaden your cocktail horizon and bring a new meaning to a cheeky drink.

Nothe Tavern

The perfect place to end your walk around Weymouth bay, Nothe Tavern is a characteristic pub filled with nestalga. Built in the late 1800's, the pub offers a quick tour of Weymouths historic past through its unique decor and photographs, the perfect destination to learn about Nothe Fort itself. Its spacious patio garden is home to the perfect sea view, a family favourite for a quick game of cards and if you're looking for a competitive evening, their weekly pub quiz is the perfect mix of history, music and laughs.

With an extensive food menu, Nothe Tavern have a tasty reputation for their fish and grill options, as well as options to suit the whole family. After being torn between their mac and cheese and steak salad options, I left the fate of my dinner to the staff and I could not be more grateful for their choice being the steak! A perfectly built fresh salad, with a medium rare steak, accompanied by a homemade chimichurri sauce, hats off to the chef.

The Loft

For a rustic dining experience, The Loft is a must when visiting Weymouth harbour. Known for their handmade pizza and crisp views, the restaurant provides a pool table and games machine to accommodate a casual evening meal. With hands on staff knowing all there is about the perfect pizza, their menu exceeds all your standard italian expectations. But, if pizza isn't your dinner of choice, not to worry as their American twist provides the perfect alternative with chicken, burgers, hotdogs and salads.

After dining at The Loft on multiple occasions, I recommend booking a table in the doors to make the most of its tranquil view, and given its prime location, timing your dinner with sunset will not go a miss.

Rendezvous

For the perfect 'last stop' of the night, rendezvous offers a diverse three floors, with an outdoor seating area beside the harbour, a middle floor bar/ restaurant with the perfect seat to watch boats pass through the bridge, and for those looking to dance the night away, pop world is located above.

The dog friendly ground floor offers the perfect atmosphere for sports lovers, with numerous big screen TVs, pool tables and bar snacks to enjoy the game, whilst Rendezvous second floor offers a lively evening atmosphere to match their 2for1 cocktail menu and wide spread food options. From a 'pub style' sharing platter, to a chicken salad, if the scenery isn't enough to entice you in, your appetite for good food will be!
