FROSTY CHRISTMAS WEEKEND IN EUROPE

29/11/19 - 02/12/19

The first mini break me and my boyfriend ventured on was a magical weekend in the heart of Krakow, Poland.

Though the Holiday was well worth the money, it took a fair bit of browsing before we chose what our perfect first get away was going to be. On the train to Thorpe park for their October 2019 FrightNight, we made the spontaneous decision to book flights and accommodation, with one months Sainsburys salary as my budget, we managed to steal a break for under £400 each!

Where we stayed - Belle Epoque Residence - A 1 bedroom apartment with a Kitchen/Bathroom/Living room.

The Aparthotel was friendly and welcoming and the apartment made for a great stay. The building was a short 10 minute walk into the main town and had shops and eateries within a minutes walk. I would 10/10 recommend for couples or friends who are looking for a comfortable stay.

Things to do -The Christmas market - Originally, we had planned to visit all the main tourist attractions, however, once arriving , we decided to relax and take each day as they came. Every evening we payed a visit to their Christmas market ,which we had arrived just in time for, that was filled with food stands, stools with hand made items - perfect to bring home for the family, and many other things. My personal fave was the size of the food on offer- specifically the Hot Dogs and the Zapiekankas!

Krakow is filled with so many opportunities to fill your day with, including spending hours in the gigantic shopping Galleria - it was the perfect way to kill a few hours with shops such as Sephora, Bershka, H&M, Tommy Hilfiger and so so many more!

As well as the Shopping Centre, the streets are filled with quaint boutique shops and big brand names, making it easy to '''accidentally' spend a bit too much.

Whilst in Poland, we also took the opportunity to visit Auschwitz. Though learning about the tragedy in school, the reality was nothing I could have been prepared for. The experience was educational and emotional and allowed for a new perspective on the true brutality many faced. We chose to take the self guided tour around both the concentration camp itself and the museum, which allowed us time to truly take it in. Though we will never be able to understand the horrors, I felt the visit has allowed me to walk away being more aware than ever ,with the deepest respect for all who suffered.

We booked our trip with - findmyguide.com - who provided transport from our accommodation and back.

Where to eat - Though the majority of meals we ate were drunken burgers from McDonald's - the Lumberjack was particularly delicious - we did manage to find one local gem that provided the perfect date night.

'Amarylis' Restaurant - Just a small work from the market, starters ,mains and desserts with a cheeky bottle of wine and an appetiser on the house are all waiting! The staff were very accommodating and the meals were impeccable, though not the place to dine if you are looking for dinner on a budget, that being said, every penny was worth it!

Overall, the Holiday was magical, memorable and everything you would want your first couples break at Christmas to be!!!

would 100% recommend :)
